Obituary of Hiram Wesley Richter

Hiram "Pat" Wesley Richter

Sebewaing, Michigan

Pat Richter, age 94 died on Friday, March 21, 2025 after a short illness. Pat was born on August 12, 1930, to the late Edna and Charles Richter. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Joan M Richter, sisters Emma Rowe, Edna (Daniel) Neill and brother Carl (Mary) Richter, niece Annette Chapman.

Pat joined the U.S. Navy after high school in 1948 and served 4 years, including 2+ years in foreign service and was honorably discharged in June 1952. He married Joan M. Baudoux on March 21, 1953, they were happily married for 66 years before her passing on September 6, 2019.  His wife used to joke with him that he was ‘almost’ perfect, and he missed her dearly after her passing.  He retired from GM Saginaw Steering Gear in 1991 after 25+ years as a skilled trades cutter grinder.  Pat loved life, was happy, friendly, and liked having fun with joking with friends and family who loved his cheeky sense of humor.  He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, fishing, boating, swimming, traveling and occasional trips to the casino.  Pat kept active throughout his life, did not like ‘sitting around’ too long, and always went to bed early.

He is survived by his daughter Marlee Richter (Larry Eichelberger), son, Gerald "Jerry" Richter; grandchildren, Sarah Pardo (Nathaniel), Heather Richter, Johnathan Richter, Ashley Richter, Jennifer Richters; seven great grandchildren Welton Hardin, Ta' Tianna Holden, Isaiah Pardo, Kasandra Pardo, Hayden Reiss, Mathis Pardo, Aubree Pardo and two great-great grandchildren; Nephews John Richter, Rick Richter, Michael (Kathy) Rowe, Tim Neill, Dennis Neill, Terry Neill, nieces Linda Hayes and Patty Neill. Also, Baudoux family nieces, nephews and spouses and children including sister-in-law Mary (Baudoux) Sanderson; close friend Gary Haske; and neighbors Paul and Diane Strieter. Special thanks to Bay View Assisted Living staff and friends who welcomed him, make him feel at home, and had fun times after his move there in July 2024.
