Obituary for Robert Morris

Our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin and friend Robert Duane Morris was born December 8, 1956, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Eddie “Hot” Morris and the late Charlene Taylor.

Robert attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School class of ’75.

After graduation, Robert spent most of his working life dedicated to non-profit work and community service at the Boys and Girls Club of Bay City, Michigan. Robert spent years refereeing youth basketball, umpiring softball leagues, and really enjoying being part of a vibrant sports community in Bay City.

Robert was a legend in Bay City, Michigan and was truly loved by everyone who met him as he impacted many lives. He had a love of sports, playing cards, spending time in the casino, and playing bingo with his friends. Robert had a special gift for always maintaining special connections and relationships with family and friends.

His life will be forever cherished by his children, Brandan Morris (Marissa) with grandchildren, Sydney (25) and Genevieve (14) of Kalamazoo; Robert "Robbie" Morris (Christina) with grandchildren Amiah (19), Jailyn (15), and Makayla (14) of East Lansing; Kelly Morris with grandchildren, Devontray Bell (25), Keziah (22), Jeremiah (22), and  K’elijah (6) of Lansing; Jacob Crippen with grandchild Jaxon Crippen (2) of Midland.

Robert is also survived by his siblings, Debra Collins of Bowie, Maryland, Eddie Collins of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Janet Moore of Saginaw Michigan, Sharon Mack of Jacksonville, Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, specials cousins, and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Gregory Moore, Mark Collins, and Ronald Morris. He was also predeceased by his grandparents Viola Brown, Charlie Dyer, Solomon and Emma Morris, as well as very special aunts, uncles, cousins, and a great-niece.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 4:00 P.M. at the Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home, 700 N. Monroe St., Bay City, Michigan 48708. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
