Obituary of Robert Edward Stender, Sr.

Stender, Robert E. Sr. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Stender, age 83, passed away on Saturday July 3, 2021 at Toni & Trish House in Auburn. Robert Edward was born on October 5, 1937 in Bay City to the late Floyd O. and Marie (Manikowski) Stender. He married the former Barbara Hayward on August 27, 1960. He worked for Stender Marine, and then worked for Bay County Road Commission where he retired after 30 years of service. Robert loved to dance (his nickname was rubber legs). He also enjoyed spending time at the deer camp and fishing, he liked to go to the coffee shop to meet up with his friends after retirement. He liked to relax in his garage and always loved it when his son came over to visit and he enjoyed his snacks and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Barbara, their son Robert E. (Brenda) Stender Jr. Also surviving are grandchildren; Amber Stender and Robert (Mackenzie Burch) Stender, great grandchildren; Emma, Aubrey and Hadleigh Stender, Madalyn and Peyton Campbell, his brother Floyd (Linda) Stender, his sister Betty (Chartier) Purtell, and many nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother in law Marion (Leo) Bouchard, and brothers in law Tom Chartier and Jim Purtell and several brothers and sisters in law.
