Charles passed away after a brief illness, on Friday, December 31, 2021, with family by his side. Charles was born May 4, 1937, in Beaverton Michigan, to Ada Mae Smith/Publow/Bell and Harold Francis Publow. He grew up in the Midland and Bay City area most of his life. With his wife of 65 years, Mary Cecelia Jerore-Publow, they built their family home in Rhodes, Michigan to raise their four children, until retirement years, and later returned to Bay City. Charles was a retiree of General Motors where he worked as a Master Electrician and was a past member of the Bay County Sherriff Posse. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and horseback riding. Spending much of his retirement making clocks, cooking, and telling stories.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Ada Mae Bell; father, Harold Francis Publow; brothers, William Publow, Richard Publow; sisters, Dorothy Longstreth, Beatrice Holzinger, Grace C. Publow, Ilene Gosciak; one son-in law, Kevin O’Laughlin; and grandson, Randy James Ervin.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary Cecelia Jerore-Publow, of Bay City; daughters, Cynthia (Daniel L.) Lincoln of Bay City, Marie O’Laughlin of Rhodes; son, Kenneth (Brenda McQuarter) Publow of Pinconning; and daughter, Frances (Gerald) White of West Branch; one sister, Debbie Publow (Paul) Kelly of Rohnert Park, California; grandchildren, Daniel J. Lincoln, Nicholas Lincoln, and Rebecca (Andrew) Meteiva, Mitchell (Heather) O’Laughlin, KC (Jodi Rundell) Publow, Brendan Publow, Natasha (James) Bouchillon, Jerry White Jr., and Joseph White;great-grandchildren, Paige Lincoln, Donald Lincoln, Nathan, Nicholas, Noah, Nehemiah and Novaleigh Metevia, Carson O’Laughlin, Donovan and Ashton Wescoat, Adeleine, Emma and Gabriella Bouchillon, Gee, Madolin, Karmin, Everleigh, and Kellan White; and one great-great-grandson, Leo Lincoln; and lifelong friends, Charlie Peckham, Richard Dillon, Richard Letts and Cal Morris.
