Obituary of Mary Margaret Miller

Miller, Mary Bay City, MI Mary passed away on May 26, 2022. She was 73 years old. She was born on April 24, 1949 to the late Leo LaPlaunt Jr. and Grace (Colbath) LaPlaunt in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Mary wed Terry Miller on February 6, 1965 in Bay City, Michigan, and he passed away August 21, 2012. She was a proud member of The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She enjoyed attending powwows, casino trips, but mostly spending time with family and friends. Over the years, many younger people called her mom or grandma even if they were not joined by blood. Mary is survived by her children Nancy (Lawrence) Casper and Terry Miller Jr., her grandchildren Michael (Kristal) Miller, Jennifer (Wayne) Thorn, Johnathon (Nicole) Welchner, Brittany Welchner (Jeff Pataky), and Brandin Welchner (Kaitlyn Johnston), several great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters Kathlene and Sandra and her brothers Leo III, Randy, and David. Cremation has taken place per family wishes. A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date. The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff of The Care Team for their service to Mary. Also, it is with huge hearts that the family send great thanks and appreciation to the staff of Close to Home, especially at their Riegel campus for the loving care they provided Mary and the family in her final journey of life.
