Obituary of Barbara Stender

Barbara A. (Hayward) Stender passed away on January 17, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born on May 17, 1936 in Bay City to the late Raymond and Delia Hayward. She went on to marry Robert E. Stender Sr. and was happily married for 60 years before he preceded her in death on July 3, 2021. 

Barbara worked at Wolverine Knitting Mill for some time, then went on to be a housewife. In her younger years she enjoyed having a few beers with family and friends, working in the garden/yard, baking, and making Sunday dinner for her son and family to come over and enjoy together. She always enjoyed her daily visits to her mother’s house,  loved going for evening car rides, and spending time with her grandkids, and great-grandkids. 

Left to cherish her memory is her son Robert E. (Brenda) Stender Jr.; grandchildren, Amber Stender (Scott Spiker) and Robert Stender (Mackenzie Burch); great-grandchildren, Emma Stender, Hadleigh Stender, Aubrey Spiker, Madalyn Campbell, and Peyton Campbell; sister-in-law, Betty (Chartier) Purtell; brother-in-law, Floyd (Linda) Stender; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Delia Hayward; husband, Robert E. Stender Sr.; siblings, June (Elmer) Leaman, Jackie (Edward) Staudacher, Charlie (Delores) Hayward, Bobby Hayward, and Raymond (Marge) Hayward; mother and father in-law, Floyd (Marie) Stender, Marion (Leo) Bouchard, Tom Chartier, and Jim Purtell.
