Diane, age 69, passed away on June 2, 2023. She was born on January 24, 1954 in Bay City to the late Patrick Pero and the late Gertrude Walraven. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was very welcoming and made friends everywhere she went. Always having a smile on her face, she enjoyed helping others, and loved sharing her joy of baking, crafting, and photography. She helped out at Hampton Senior Center, worked at the Walmart Photo Lab, and the Boys and Girls Club of Bay City.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Schafer; sons, Jamey (Emily) Bartkowiak of Bay City, MI and Jason (Veronica) Bartkowiak of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Dana (Brad) Tinglan-Schaefer of Bay City, MI; step-daughters, Amanda (Tim) Johnson of Marquette, MI and Ashley (Zachary) Jones of Bay City, MI; grandchildren, Maylee, Lucus, Nicholas, Caitlyn, Aiden, Halem, Ryker, Gage, Graycyn, Maren, Jack, and Nora; siblings, Terri (Paul) Maxwell, Paul Pero, and Sue Walraven; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by her father, Eugene "Coke" Walraven; brothers, Patrick Pero and Mark Walraven; and sister, Pamela Walraven.
