Karen Kay (Kilmer) Lambert, 76, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in Saginaw, Michigan, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Karen was born on February 2, 1948, in Petoskey, Michigan, to Clyde and Geraldine Kilmer.
Karen cherished her role as a mother above all else, considering it her life’s greatest achievement. She is survived by her children: Kimberly (Franklin) Lambert-Wilcox, Heidi Lambert, and Kevin Lambert, as well as her grandchildren: Tyler (Kaylie) Lambert, Emily (Mickey) Conley, Mathew Lambert, Gabriel Lambert and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jayson James Lambert, and her grandson, Colton James Lambert. Karen is also survived by her brother, Gary (Ruth) Kilmer.
A proud member of The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, Karen held deep spiritual beliefs and embraced native traditions. She dedicated her time to rescuing abused animals through her volunteer work with the Midland Humane Society, reflecting her profound love for all creatures. She loved, cared for, and cherished many animals in her lifetime, including her most beloved dog, Macho.
Karen's passions included spending time with family, particularly in natural surroundings, and she had a special affinity for water. Raised in Bay City and married to Darell James Lambert of Linwood in 1966, they raised their family in Hope, Michigan. Karen enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, and canning the fruits and vegetables from her garden. She and her mother, Geraldine, shared a love for exploring garage sales and thrift stores. Karen loved decorating her homes over the years with her beloved collections, finding joy in sewing curtains, knitting, refurbishing furniture, and making ceramics. Her homes always felt as welcoming as her heart was.
Karen pursued a career in Health Care Administration and held an associate degree from Lake Michigan Community College. She was known for her compassionate nature, often referred to as a second mother by many friends. Karen's door was always open, and she offered a listening ear and helping hand to anyone in need.
In accordance with Karen’s wishes, a simple burial will be held with close family in attendance. Memorial gifts in her honor may be made to the Midland Humane Society, a cause that was dear to her heart.
Karen’s sweet and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in our hearts until we meet again. May she rest in peace. To sign online guestbook, visit www.hyattewald.com Arrangements made with the Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home.
