Obituary of William M. Thompson

Mr. Thompson passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the age of 92. He was born in Bay City on October 7, 1921 to the late James and Katherine Thompson. He was a graduate of Bowling Green State University, a member of First Presbyterian Church for 50 years, & retired from Goodyene Manufacturing after 30 years of service. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII as an Artillery Sgt. He married Maxine Weiler on May 17, 1969. He is survived by Maxine Thompson, his wife of 45 years; his daughter, Carol Thompson; step sons, Steve (Maryvonne) DeSmyter and Michael (Leslie) DeSmyter. He was predeceased by his brother Jim and sister, Rose Pelletier. A Funeral Service will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 805 Center Ave., Bay City. Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. Weenink will officiate with burial following in Elm Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12 Noon – 1 PM. Those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to 1st Presbyterian Church.
