Obituary of Irene F. Sworthwood

Sworthwood, Irene F. Durand, Michigan Mrs. Sworthwood passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at the age of 101. Irene was born June 28, 1915 in Durand, Michigan, to the late Charles and Margaret (Risdon) Cooney. She married Albert Sworthwood in Owosso on December 18, 1937. She has been an area resident all of her life. Irene was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand and a lifelong member of the Durand VFW Auxiliary. Mrs. Sworthwood is survived by her children; Margaret (Charles) Ondrick of Centerville, OH, James (Carla) Sworthwood of Durand and Rosemary (Charles) West of Ypsilanti, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, sisters in law Pat Cooney of Durand and Opal Raushenburger of Middleville, MI, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Albert, daughter Dorothy Ann, 6 brothers; Charles (Bud), Tom, Ed, Bob, Mike and Don; 4 sisters Henrietta, Elinor, Mary and Alice. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 700 E. Columbia Drive, Durand, MI. Father Jonathan Perrotta will officiate. A private interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon, MI. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
