Obituary of Irene Maria Sattler

Sattler, Irene Maria (Schafer) Bay City, MI Irene, also known to many as Oma, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the age of 95. She was born in Rockenburg Germany to the late Anton and Magdalena Schafer on December 27, 1922. Irene married Frank Sattler August 23, 1948 and came to the United States as Frank Sattler's new bride in November 1948. Irene was a longtime resident of Bay City Michigan. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Society, and the Daughters of Isabella. Our Mom and Oma is survived by her three daughters; Madeline (John) Wright of Tanzania East Africa, Patricia Worth and friend Richard Warren of Bay City; and Mary McGuire of Defiance Ohio; her daughter-in-law, Louanne Sattler of Bay City; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Louisa Gohlke of Rockenburg, Germany; and many nieces and nephews in both the United States and Germany. Irene was predeceased by her husband Frank; two sons, Gene and Richard Sattler; sons-in-law, Truman Worth and Michael McGuire; and brothers, Valentine and Paul Schafer. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1005 Third Street, Bay City Michigan. Interment will follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home, 700 N. Monroe St., Bay City Michigan, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 2-8 PM with a Vigil Service at 7 PM, and at church on Thursday from 9 AM until service time.
