Marilu D'Angela Reed, born June 21, 1955 in Detroit, MI to Onorio & Enardina D'Angela, passed away on August 6, 2018 in Midland, MI following a brief illness. Marilu is survived by her husband Dan Reed; sister, Fran D'Angela; daughter, Daniella (Reed) Clayton and husband Brian Clayton; son, Jesse Reed and wife Brandie (Knoll) Reed; 3 grandsons, Brogan Reed, Cael Clayton and Caden Clayton. She was preceded in death by both parents and one sister. Marilu passed quietly surrounded by her loving family. Marilu married Dan on October 6, 1979 in Colorado Springs, CO and later moved to Iowa. In 1990 she earned her B.A. in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She had several different jobs while living in Gladwin and Clare Counties but her greatest love and accomplishments were raising her 2 children, being a grandparent and producing fine art. Marilu resided in Clare County for the past 17 years on a small hobby farm with her husband and many pets that she loved dearly. Marilu is remembered by her family and friends as being loving, caring, non-judgmental toward everyone she met, a beaming smile, an infectious laugh, a protector of mother earth, and a true free spirit. She was very proud of her Italian heritage, being a first-generation Italian in the United States and was a self-proclaimed hippie. Honoring her wishes, cremation was handled by Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home in Bay City, MI. Those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Shelterhouse: Care of Victims Pets, 3115 Isabella, Midland, MI 48640, shelterhousemidland.org.
