Me and most of my family often reminisce about bowling at the old Alert Lanes in downtown Bay City with the overhead projected scorers. My Mom, Gloria Rybkowski, took full advantage and would often place items on the score table to be projected for all to see. Cheryl, I know you got a kick out of it, but somehow I'm guessing that Mel may have turned the other way shaking his head. It was always in good fun, which we all enjoyed. We enjoyed bowling at the new Alert Lanes as well.
So many memories to cherish.
My deepest, heartfelt condolences to the family. Praying for comfort and warm hugs

I am saddened to learn of Mel’s passing. I first met him in 2017 as a respected member of the Hampton Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Mel brought many years of knowledge and experience as a business owner and property developer to the board he served and he will be greatly missed! You have my sincerest and heartfelt condolences.

To all of Mel's family -
You have my sincerest condolences. Mel was truly a great man, in every sense of the word, and I am saddened by his passing. He meant so much to the local business community, and his legacy as a champion for small business in Bay City will be warmly remembered. The Beyett family was always so kind and compassionate to me and my family, and I will never forget some of the best moments of my life that happened inside the doors of Alert Lanes. I know a number of people share that same feeling, and that is a tribute to the sacrifice that Mel and his entire family have made to bring joy and happiness to our community for so many years. Mel certainly holds a special place in many people's hearts, and that is a testament to who he was as a human being. A great husband, father, grandfather, and mentor that will be missed by everyone!
