Life Reflections of Vera Lee Mason (Hardwick) Ms. Vera Lee Mason was born November 11, 1959 in Vance, Mississippi. She was the first born of her Mother Willie V. Hardwick. Vee as she was affectionately known spent the first 17 years of her life in Mississippi helping to raise her siblings. It was during this time that her passion of caring for her family was developed. Vee along with her mother and siblings migrated to Bay City, Michigan in 1976 and she remained a resident there for 44 years. The last 3 months of her physical life she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to live with her son. It was during this season that she got to spend significant & intimate quality time with her son, daughter, and 3 grandchildren. She loved her time in Las Vegas because of the nice weather but mainly due to finally being able to celebrate her birthday, daughter's birthday, grandkids birthdays, and holiday season with her son and his family once again. On January 20, 2021 Vera Lee moved once more. This time it was to her permanent residence in heaven with Father God and Jesus The Christ. Which whom she accepted as Lord and Savior at an early age. Vee rededicated her life to walking and serving Jesus later in life. You could often times catch her reading the bible or our daily bread, watching televised sermons, and listening to gospel music. Vee was a lover of life and remained young in heart throughout. She was an extrovert, vibrant, and had a personality that was infectious with good cheer. As the saying goes, she was a whole vibe. Vee never missed a opportunity to converse with anybody who crossed her path and kept you laughing. She had a passion for music, cooking, and staying in touch with those she loved. One of her favorite hobbies was watching television. She loved reality T.V. but her first love was to science fiction/scary movies and the syfy channel. Soul food topped the list when it came to culinary cuisine. Yet, nothing tickled her fancy quite like some pop and fatty cakes. Particularly coke and some honey buns :) She had the spiritual gifts of caring and communication. She often displayed these gifts by stopping by for a visit, calling you on the phone, and sending handwritten cards throughout the year. Her love and spiritual gift was fully exhibited by the multiple nieces and nephews she helped raised. In a time when society has become impersonal, Vee continued to cultivate relationships by connecting with family and friends on a sentimental level. Vera's vibrant beauty and benevolent essence will continue to be illuminated through her son Shahada (Sharecca) Hardwick of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Rickley Hardwick of Bay City, Michigan; two sisters, Cora (Vincent) Williams of Detroit, Michigan and Jessica Lee of Atlanta, Georgia; three aunts, Lillie Lee, Minnie Gilliam, & Laura Hardwick of Bay City, Michigan; uncle Willie Earl Hardwick of Dallas, Texas; three granddaughters Anisa Hardwick, Amara Hardwick, and Anaya Hardwick of Las Vegas, Nevada; five nieces, Xavia Hardwick, Calliana Johnson, Zayanna Smith, London Smith, Oaklynn Marks; four nephews, Xzadrian Hardwick Jr, Dan Marks III, Dominique Smith Jr., Derek Sullivan; two very special friends, Barbara Knight & Gerald Mitchell of Bay City, Michigan; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Vee was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Helen Ward; grandmother, Louise Hardwick; grandfather, Dave Hardwick; mother, Willie V. Hardwick; sister, Loretta Hardwick; aunts, Lula Mae Watts-Burnell, and Nina Bruce; uncle, Jesse Hardwick; nephew, Xzadrian Hardwick Sr.; niece, Xzadrianna Hardwick; close cousin, Sherman McGee; and best friend, Rena Davenport.
