Barbara Lee Koegel Obituary With joy and anticipation, Barbara Lee Gerholz Koegel walked into the arms of a loving Lord on September 1, 2021. She was born at home on May 1, 1928 to Freda and Robert P. Gerholz. She married Albert J. Koegel, son of Anna and Albert Koegel (who lived across the street), on August 30, 1950. They celebrated 71 years of marriage on August 30, 2021. Together they had four wonderful children – Anne Rocco and her husband, Jeffry Rocco; Kathryn Koegel; Jane Koegel; and John Koegel and his wife, Lisa Smith Koegel. There are five smart, creative, beautiful, and handsome grandchildren – Andrea Rocco; Katlyn, Chloe, Carson, and Cameron Koegel. They have shared happy vacations as a family skiing together in the West and at their cottage on Higgins Lake. Barb leaves her husband, Al; her sister, Janice Pike; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Gerholz. She looks forward to a reunion with her parents; Al’s parents; her brother, Bob Gerholz; her brother-in-law, Fred Pike; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Libby Neithercut; a favorite aunt and uncle, Barbara and Bob Wallace; and cousins, Joel Streich and Maurice Kilmer. Her wish is that there be no service or reception because she enjoyed all the events and parties through the years of which she could be a part. Please, no flowers - she was happy with all the flowers she had in her home and garden during her long lifetime. If you think of her, say a kind word to encourage someone. Give flowers to an unsuspecting stranger. Give any gifts to Gerholz Counseling Center to help a person in need. Did you know Barb at Central High School, Wellesley College, the University of Michigan, or Parsons School of Design? Were you a client at Barbara Koegel/Interior Design? Did you work together on committees at the YWCA, Flint Institute of Music, or First Presbyterian Church? Did you belong to Art Class, Book Club, the Junior League, or a prayer group? Were you a singer when she played piano for the First Presbyterian Church children’s choir? Did you work together in her home or garden with loving hands and heart, or have a creative idea for her home or a project? She is grateful for each friendship and looks forward to seeing you again in life’s tomorrow. God bless and guide you all.
