Obituary of William "Bill" J. Ewald

Ewald, William J. "Bill" Bay City, MI Mr. Ewald passed away October 9, 2015, at the age of 84. He was born May 6, 1931 to the late Carl and C. Marion (Coosard) Ewald in Saginaw Michigan. He was a 1949 graduate of Arthur Hill High School and 1953 graduate of Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. He married Mary A. Ware in August 1955. He enjoyed sailing and spending time up north at his cottage. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, was a member of Joppa Lodge F & AM, a member of Bay Chapter O.E.S., and of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He & his wife were the owners of the Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home for many years prior to being joined by their daughter and son-in-law. He is survived by his children and their families, Mary Ewald (Mark) Sayles, Grace and Jonathan Sayles of Bay City and William R. (Marianne) Ewald, Erica (Brad) Harpe and Andrew Manor (Liz Parson). Also surviving are his brother Carl (Judy) Ewald of Ft. Worth TX, special nieces & a nephews, many extended family, special Ewald cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2010. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11 AM at the Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home. Rev. Msgr. George Michalek will officiate with a private interment following in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly Michigan. The family will receive friends at the Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 12 Noon to 8 PM and on Friday from 10 AM until service time.
